Our post-lab has restricted human access. Mobiles, cameras, voice recorders, and digital recording devices are not allowed. To keep your vulnerable files protected our computers are protected by dedicated antivirus and firewall. We are following the most modern practices for digital security.
After completing your order, we will keep the original files and the DCP in our local systems for 14 days. This is important in any case you want any changes for technical reasons. After these days we will proceed to the permanent non-reversible deletion process using dedicated software.
In any case, if you select a package of online hosting we will keep your DCP online for the selected time period. One-month online hosting is free for every order. Files will be deleted from the cloud after the date expires. If your DCP is encrypted, we will keep the digest file securely and also one DKDM for our backup key management system. This is the only way to deliver new KDMs to decrypt your film in the future. We can send you a DKDM specific for your key management system with an extra charge. Each DCP is delivered in the form of a verified ZIP file and the link is sent to you by email. The is a safe method to transfer files through the web. We suggest you download the files via the secure app “Filemail app” available for windows, mac, and Linux or via the FTP client “Filezilla app”. Why ZIP?
Before uploading or downloading DCPs or KDMs to or from FTP-Servers, the DCPs and KDMs should be zipped. During the upload or download process files that are stored in ASCII format – such as the XML files like Packing List (PKL), Composition Playlist (CPL), or Key Delivery Message (KDM) – could be altered by transfer errors and correspond in different ASCII characters, resulting in errors during DCP ingest or playback. Some FTP-Servers change line feeds or tabs resulting in bad signature hash values. Mac and Windows often use different line feed in text files. To prevent this source of errors before transferring such data all files should be zipped before the transaction. You should zip files for E-Mailing, too. If any errors occur during the file transfer, the zip file will fail to unzip. This is the way to know that your sensitive files (DCPs or any other digital file) transferred correctly. You should unzip the file to be sure that it is error-free. You could also use as an alternate method the open-source application https://quickhash-gui.org/ in order to calculate the MD5 hash of the ZIP file. Compare this hash with the hash that we include in the e-mail text containing the link to make sure that they match. If the two files have even one different bit then, calculated hashes will be differnet. Using Cloud Storage, you can easily transfer your film at a low cost in most festivals and cinema venues around the world. It is a reliable and modern solution with a lower cost than mailing the physical media through courier services. You can simultaneously support multiple cinema venues which is not possible with a physical medium. It is also a covid-free solution.

DCP files are delivered within 2 working days after receiving full payment and your film source files. If you need your DCP in an emergency, contact us to check the availability of faster delivery.

Another possibility is that you encrypt all reels of a single composition except the first reel so that the first reel (e.g. a trailer or advertisement) can be played back on every d-cinema server while the rest of the composition can only be played back with the right KDM.
